If they do Part IV (with or without Coppola), it should be Vinnie succeeding Michael, who gives him advice while in retirement. Vinnie gets into the drug trade... The flashbacks plot should cover the Happy Years of 1926 to 1940, in which the Corleones killed everyone and nobody killed them. Young Sonny (nice parallel to his son's story) as a teen and adult becoming a capo and underboss in the war on the Irish mob, the origins of Hagen, and how the boys join the business.

Yeah, when Duvall was on Inside the Actor's Studio, he told James Lipton the one thing he disliked about his role in the Godfather series was the hairpiece he had to wear! However, it was also fiancial disputes that resulted in Hagen dying before the story of Godfather Part III took place. Sure, Sonny has a mere cameo in this film, but he's important for introducing his eventual betrayer, Carlo, to Connie and the family, which results in the abusive marriage, the big fight, and his death...

sounds good...but I think initially they were going for star power and didn't realize it'd turn into such a classic like it did...lol

U know what they should've done?.. Godfather 1 should have been Robert Di Niro playing young Vito, creating his crime business.. Then Godfather part 2 should be the real godfather 1.. then godfather part 3 should be the story of michael corleone in Godfather 2.. then that would be the greatest trilogy of all time...

I have to agree with only ONE part. The best part of Part II was Robert Di Niro playing Vito as a young man. They should have made that into a movie by itself it was so good! But I did not like the modern parts of Micheal and him killing his brother, Hyman Roth getting killed, all of that was too much like real life...which probably they were masking the truth through those scenes...but they could have made some of those scenes more cinematic than a documentary. Other than that, love it! =D

The godfather part 2 was the greatest film ever made. The godfather was a brillant film i didnt think the second would be any good compare to the first but in this film the second one is way better than the first robert di niro one of my favorite actors ever is brillant as the young vito corleone and al pacino is way better in this film then he was in the first but the only disappointed in this film is Robert Duvall as tom haggen he is not as good as he was in the first and james caan is missed

Love the music. The scene of the past is just breathtaking and riveting.
