The environment is simply not a valid reason not to extract present oil and gas reserves, every country should be as self-sufficient as possible, rather than relying so heavily on countries such as Russia and Norway for energy demands.

The video only scratches the surface of Shell's "tried and tested" track record of gas extraction in Nigeria. Their railroading of the people of Mayo is another example in Shell's long history of "dealing" with indigenous people.

It's pathetic and shows what Ireland is all about, the way people are carrying on about a tried and tested means of gas extraction validates my point further.
oliversinhell (November 30, 1999 at 12:00 am)
Thats because most of the people in mayo are thick cunts !!!!
I live in the rest of Ireland , and i'm not too happy about buying my own gas at top international prices !!!!!!

Most of the people in Mayo + Ireland are in favor of this, its the tail wagging the dog,

frist of all it is 12.5%, second the Government are able to make companies exempt from tax, many of the the multi nationals setup in Ireland because the Government gave them 5 to 10 years tax breaks.
tarafoundation (November 30, 1999 at 12:00 am)
Actually, it was reduced to 12.5% in the 2001 budget which is practically nothing. Compare that to Norway, where there is a 78% tax rate and 7% royalty rate. |
