I wonder if your snare is a multi-ply ?
That will make it more dry then something like a 6 ply, or 8 ply.

Cool grooves. Amazing sounding kit. Especially those toms. I've got an Ayotte snare, but I rarely use it because it's got such a Dry sound. I never realized the drums sound way better. Maybe I should give them a try.
