Khunaxh yak'ei aya! This is very good! It has improved since I first saw it last semester in Dick and Nora's Lingit Linguistics class. Jason please tell Linda that she created a wonderful piece and I would love to see many many more of these! Gunalcheesh, Amanda

I went to a seminar last year on preserving the Tlingit language. (I live in Juneau, AK) What they said really impressed me. The speakers pointed out that to preserve a language not only means remembering how it was spoken centuries ago but it also means adapting it to present day situations. It's not enough to be able to talk about fishing and berry picking in Tlingit, for the language to survive you also have to be able to talk about changing a baby's diaper or playing basketball.

i fell in love with a tlingit woman. she does not like me at all and she hurt me. but i still love her. I looked at her and saw the light from a star that shone from thousands and thousands of years ago. she opened my eyes. it was the most spiritual thing that has ever happened to me. she affected me like no man or woman ever has. she is the most beautiful woman I have ever seen in my whole entire life. she hurt me badly but I can not stop loving her because of what I saw when I looked at her
