Are you serious? 45 is a "small caliber"?!
45 is .45 inches wide, thats what the caliber system is. its almost half an inch wide. small caliber would be a .22 or a .17
holy shit

Springfield Armory 1911s are good. Wood grip with GI on it.. They're $600 or so on gunbroker (GI version, factory new) but a Kimber 1911 Custom 2 at aimsurplus(dot)com is $700. Both are good pieces of equipment, its just a matter of which you like best. I've fired the Springfield Armory 1911 GI before. Its great fun to shoot!

I've never seen that happen on a good 1911. Competition shooters in IDPA and IPSC use the slide release to bring the pistol into battery, and they never have jamming problems; even with recoil springs half the weight of factory specs. |
