everyone is entitled to their opinion. deadly blessing and deadly are terrible films. his tv movie chiller is just a rip off of john carpenter. craven is much better when he is directing someone else's writing as a general rule. in his films he almost always has a mcguyver booby trap moment. even the hills has eyes which is my favorite of his films and done in the tone of tobe hooper's texas chainsaw massacre has craven's usual mcguyver moment.

the best horror dirctor that could ever live is wes craven he could always bring the suspense in all of his movies weather it was nightmare on elm st. last house on the left, or the hills have eyes he always knows how to keep you on the edge of your seat he deserves more credit than alot of these people. alot of people will dissagree but i think rob zombie should not be a director he completely ruined halloween.

yes, i love black Christmas. it is a great film. i will agree that bob clark's film is indeed under-rated. it did not start the trend. halloween did. both b.C. and h. are great movies. there is a director involved in both; someone who knows something about directing, creating mood, suspense, atmosphere, etc. friday the 13th could not generate any of that so they went for the gore with tom savini's excellent f/x. friday gets too much credit; b.C. and h. don't get enough. thank you for the reply.

He really isnt underrated. Halloween is considered as the first Slasher film. even though Black christmas started it all. Some killer stalking young women, its all happening on a holiday. Black Christmas is the one thats underrated. Halloween has had huge success. thats not being underrated.

evil dead. evil dead 2. carpenter's the thing. the howling. the blob remake. the fog. christine. prince of darkness. they live! re-animator. from beyond. scanners. dead zone. videodrone. cronenberg's the fly. dead ringers. day of the dead. monkey shines. pumpkinhead. pyscho II. psycho III. killers klowns from outer space. night of the creeps + many, many more great films are over looked by horror fans in favor of the fri. sequels. the fri. films are more about marketing than filmmaking.

geocities:The original movie had several references to Halloween(POV shots, a specific date on which it takes place, Psycho references)this one took it even further. Jason was a large menacing killer who covers his face and never speaks much like Michael. About 18 years later when Steve Miner was working on HalloweenH20 he was talking about how great of a film the original Halloween was he mentioned that everyone ripped it off "I know because that's what we did on the Friday the 13th movies.

i saw friday part 2 in the theater when it was first released. it is one of the worst horror films ever. it was one of the biggest let-downs of my movie going experience. at least it had amy steel. part 3 was pointless except for the gore and the 3-d. where's the plot? where the suspense? where are the scares? where are the characters? tom really let me down on the f/x for 4. there are so many great horror films from the 80's. it is terrible that they are being over-looked for the fri. sequels.
