personal anguish? Criminal behaviour is what it is. Prosperity was there in 97 BEFORE him and his crooks took over and is due to that previous government. I love the way people in this country feel sorry for crooked FF politicians when they get caught out. he gets a very good salary. He should not be doing the things that he does.

If the Irish people are stupid enough to re-elect this prick and his band of crooks then the deserve exactly what they will get.

I know lets all talk about something that is relevent to us, issues for example, rather than cry about someones personal problems. It seems you would all perfer to live in the doldrums of the 80's than focus on the prosperity that surrounds you now. Vincent broowne smells blood yet it turns out to be no more than someones personal anguish, tired and boring old sod, find a story that actually means something to the public instead of rehashing details a tribunal has already dealt with.

very familiar,no wonder he defended haughey so bitterly last year

So nothing has changed with Fianna Fail, they still can't see anything wrong with lining there own pockets with money regardless of the source. We need a change of government on the 24th of May, otherwise we really will have a one party state and can look forward to more of the same for the next five years.
sauloftarsus (November 30, 1999 at 12:00 am)
Of course when Bertie Ahern was forced to set up the tribunal in 1997 the dodgy financing which he used to purchase his house was fresh in his mind, hence the narrow terms of reference for the tribunal. So Fianna Fail can run around complaining about poor Bertie being the target of a smear campaign, however the facts outlined in the media so far are true and nobody is denying them.

So when the tribunal resumes after the election, all these issues regarding money circulating between Ahern/Larkin and Wall will not be relevant to this tribunal. That evidence will join the large pile of documentation regarding payments to politicians which can't be investigated because those payments don't relate to planning matters. (I wonder what will happen to this evidence after a change of government) |
